Nature Therapy

If you're seeking nervous system regulation and are open to unconventional places and ideas, Nature Therapy might be a great fit for you. Nature Therapy is exactly as it sounds; it's therapy outdoors IN Nature!

Studies have shown that Nature is healing. Being in Nature helps people ground high out of control energy (anxiety). Everything in Nature is rhythmic, patterned, repetitive, and predictable. We know that rhythm, patterns, repetition, and predictability is what speaks safety to the brain, meaning regulation of the nervous system happens naturally when the body experiences these qualities.

My office is located on 5 beautiful acres in the awe-inspiring hill country of Driftwood. There are walking trails, gardens, and abundant wildlife. It's the perfect place to unwind, relax, and leave feeling regulated!

Nature Therapy consists of various activities, which include joint walk and talks, solo walks with intention, rituals or ceremonies, solo camp outs, and rest and reset weekend retreats.

Walk and Talks- if you love the outdoors, or want to get your steps in while also participating in therapy, or simply walk to do your bilateral stimulation through movement, Walk and Talks are a great option! We walk along the trails on the property, while talking about presenting issues, and ideas/resolutions surface naturally thanks to the bilateral stimulation (walking).

If you prefer Solos, we meet at the beginning of the session simply to discuss the point of reflection and set an intention, then you walk a trail solo and return for integration, where we talk about what was observed and how to apply it practically in life.

Rituals or Ceremonies- These can be implemented when the intention is to let go of something from the past, or draw something in that you're wanting to create or develop. They can be something simple, using sticks and fire, or more complex, like Cacao (where we would set an intention, drink Cacao, do breathing techniques, then journey or meditate). If you have an idea about something you'd like to release or create, I can put together a ceremony for you.

Solo Campouts- These are for the more adventurous seekers and/or people wanting to overcome certain fears. Clients are invited to camp on the land for two nights, while fasting and spending time in contemplation and prayer. We meet together to set up and set an intention for the weekend. Then, you have your solo time, reflecting and exploring. Finally, the day you leave, we have an integration session where we talk about what came up (both in wake and dream states) and process anything needing processing.

Rest & Reset Weekend Retreats- These weekends are for individuals who feel stressed and drained by day to day life. Perhaps they are caregivers to everyone, or feeling tapped out from always being so helpful to others. They forget or don't feel they have space/time to care for themselves. This is where I step in, to care for you, for an entire weekend. I cook for you, nourishing foods, seasonal, local, designed to support your body based on whatever it is you're intending. Or if fasting is preferable, we fast. We use yoga and other gentle movements to reset the nervous system. We use meditation and breath work to reset the mind, clearing out the mental clutter. We can do some Reiki if energetic balance is needed. We spend a lot of time in nature, reflecting. The objective is to feel "reset" upon departure and before heading back into the daily routine. Perhaps the weekend reset initiates a change in the daily routine. Each weekend reset looks different, because it's tailored to your unique needs. Want to focus on consumption? We can cook together and abstain from electronics. Want to focus on healing a deep wound? We can incorporate a therapy intensive using EMDR or ART. Just want a break from life? We can spend time outdoors relaxing, playing, and creating a work of art! The opportunities are limitless!
